Selling Vue with Transmission Problems

:confused:I have a 2008 Saturn Vue that developed transmission problems a couple of months ago. I want to sell it and was wondering if it is better to get some other issues fixed before putting it on the market (e.g. I need to get the brake pads replaced). Also there are some scratches on the outside - is it worth paying to get these and any other minor issues fixed before selling the car? I am trying to get the highest possible price for it because my financial situation is not good right now, and I need to use the funds to buy a drivable car. Any thoughts on whether fixing the less serious issues before selling is worth it?

your other post is contradictory to this one and sounds like you want the tranny fixed.
If you push hard enough politely on the right people, it'll get fixed. It's all just a game, and it's the seemingly uninformed woman who unleashes a complete mechanical explanation of why their reverse excuse is bs that will often catch them sleeping. Table the selling for a week to discuss options b c no one is going to buy that vehicle with those shift flares unless they work on transmissions or they blew an engine and are buying it for that, and they will lowball you.

I agree with derf. The squeaky wheel gets greased first. I'd be calling those lying bastards everyday, until I found a sympathetic ear. And if that doesn't work, do you have any friends that are attorneys? I had a similar problem with a Chevy Equinox I had several years ago and a factory flaw in the fuel pump. I was told 4 times that my VIN was not covered under the recall. After threatening a phone call from an attorney, mine got fixed the next day.

Does the transmission slip while in drive. Im having this problem as well. But ive noticed it tends not to slip gear when i put it into semiauto shifting (sport mode)

Actually putting it in Sport mode is how I figured out definitively which gears were flaring as the vehicle WILL upshift/downshift to protect itself from damage if the rpms get too high in a gear/too low\ in danger of stalling, etc.

In sport mode, let it do all the shifting while you are steadily accelerating. You should see the rpms start to rise briskly with unchanged throttle position right as it is shifting from 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th. Stood out like a sore thumb. And yes, it misbehaves in the same gear transitions in Drive.
