Replacement rear suspension spring bumper discontinued. Replacement part?

Hi all,

New here. Own 2 Honda Vues. One AWD and one FWD. Replaced entire front suspension on AWD. Replacing some of the rear suspension. Ran into an issue. Looking for new rear spring bumpers. Part number is 22700779. All sites say discontinued. Bracket is still good, so if I could even find just the new inserts to glue in there, it would be gravy. Anyone know of a compatible replacement part? Thanks! 😁

I have an entire vue I'm parting out. Several junk yards told me they don't want it. I'm probably gonna get a plasma cutter soon to start chopping it up.

I can take a look to see if any of the stuff you need is still good if you want.

PM me where you are located. We might be able to help you get rid of some of that stuff. We got a part from Modern Auto Wreckers in Picayune, MS. They may want it if you're near there. A lot of Vues still moving around there, and he likes them.

Crazy. I used to live 30 min from picayune. Covington, Louisiana.
I live in Longview, Texas now. 3 hours across the top of louisiana and I would be in Mississippi now.

Nice. Yeah, I went away for awhile and found myself back here. Just left San Antonio a few months ago.

Dropped 4 Falken AT on that AWD and rebuilding the suspension so I can eat up those slippery red clay roads.

On the front, put Scitoo control arms (was clunking), new Dorman sway bar (was broken), cheap RockAuto front CV joints (was clicking), Detroit Axle inner and outer tie rods, links, and strut assemblies. Would love to do more on the back right now, but I'm just throwing some Moog springs and insulators, Monroe Reflex struts, and Detroit Axle links for now. 😁

Wish it was a bit higher, but don't really feel like messing with lifts. Might look for spacers.

Substitute jounce bumper found?

Hi,

I have a 2005 Vue and I can't find a replacement rear spring jounce bumper, part no. 22700779, which is discontinued. Has anyone figured out a substitution or repair?

@3rdEye2020 ,

Did that Vue Rear Spring bumper you ordered work out for your Vue?

Thanks

Jounce bumper 2005 Vue

For one side , I found a used lower control arm with the bumper intact, so I removed it from the one to install on mine. I am not sure how long it will last, but at least I have one.

I saved the broken one and it is essentially a metal cup holding a plastic bumper insert with a long bolt going through a long cylindrical spacer. The link to the newer 2007 version looks very similar, but the space widens at the base in the newer version. I wonder if I could swap my old spacer for the newer one? It's an awfully expensive gamble ($165) if it doesn't fit.

The other thing I came across was a Mazda jounce bumper that appears tio be the same length (4.7"), but a little wider (2.2" vs 1.875""), and the Mazda part appears to be designed to ride on a strut, so I am not sure how one would secure a bolt in it to mount it to the control arm. It's by no means the same design and might not work , but it might be better than nothing, if one could figure out how to fasten it at the base with a bolt. The good part: it's only $12 for a pair. https://a.co/d/1zDCmHT

A third option might be to find an insert one cloild glue into the cup, but it's hard to find dimensions on what is listed. Sbort term, I am tempted to try jgluing the old broken one into the cup with contruction adhesive to see how long it will last.

Since the bounce stops are pretty hard rubber and don't deform a ton, could you possibly get a similar piece of rubber, drill the hole down the center, and then carve out the general shape so that the part will have some give? I would think even a basic cylinder of the right stiffness would suffice based on its purpose. Sure, the original shape contributes to the behavior of the part when it is deformed, but if you simply literally need this part to stop the motion by bumping into the frame, it doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to be functional.
