Loss of power to ignition/accessories

2003 Saturn Vue Ecotec 2.2L L4 (4 cyl)

Tried to turn engine over, with no response from car. (like I had not even put the key in). Key turns, but there is a loss of connection somewhere.
Changed ignition cylinder (been meaning to do that for a while anyhow), and ignition switch.
Car still refuses to start.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.....

You may want to check your battery connections and the condition of the battery.

+1 bone dead is often battery
and it's 7 years so orig battery may have gone south (if the orig was a 7 year that is...)

Battery works fine. I'm still able to turn headlights/interior lights on. Anything associated with the ignition ie; radio, power windows, starting.. wont work.
I have also checked fuses. Any idea if the ignition assembly (part that holds the switch/cylinder/and steering column lock all together) has an electronic security to it that I'm missing?

I'm sure you have checked the 30amp IGN fuse located in the engine compartment fuse box, and also checked to confirm the presence of +12 volts on the heavy RED wire coming from that fuse to the ignition switch ............
