Interior Parts

Hello all.

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue base model. For the life of me I can't find the name or the part that is in the picture attached.
If anyone has any idea what's it called or if it's even possible to get, please let me know.
I'm trying to replace parts on it as they break as cars are way too expensive for me right now.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did it cover the entire area to the windshield?

No not the entire area to windshield. Only up to the indentations on the dash.
The piece still attached above the vents (I think) are attached by bolts.

Thank you. That was actually what I meant but apparently I am incapable of properly wording my inquiries. Did it have any type of functionality to it?

No worries, maybe it was me.
No it did not have any functionality to it. It was just a black plastic cover.

No I'm just a sarcastic jackass

I will try to find it.

Ok.

Good news. Found the part.
Bad news. It seems to only be available as part of the entire upper instrument panel assembly, as I can find no picture with a corresponding part number for just that piece. See attached pictures

You can pick up a brand new one from most of the GM sites for between 2 and $300 or go to a junkyard. However, there are so many parts that it looks like you would have to remove to be able to remove the upper instrument panel, it may not be worth it to go that route
I would go to a junkyard and figure out how to remove one of these without breaking it. Once you can do that, you can obviously take the part with you. You may wish to try to remove the remaining port of your own since it's trash anyway in order to figure out how the front comes off. Those two front melting points may just slide down into a clip. That's a total guess.

So off to the junkyard for you, I believe. You'll know right away if the part is easily removable if you find a bunch of '06 and '07 Vues that have already been stripped of the part.

By the way it only fits 06 and 07

If you find one with the attachment pieces broken but the top intact, you may be able to get creative without to attach it.

Random thoughts.

Please come back and let us know how it works out

Exploded diagram of upper instrument panel. No individual part number for that piece.

Derf! You da man!
I do enjoy sarcasm but it went right over my head, probably because I've been hours on the computer trying to find all the parts for this car.
I really appreciate your help.
You know I did see that diagram but something about it was throwing me off.

Again, a million thanks.
Already emailed one junkyard and will try to visit some during the week. I will let you know what happens.

Good morning Derf!
I tried replying earlier but it l don't know why the reply isn't showing.
Thank you so much for looking into that! I really appreciate it.
I am calling several junkyards today to see.

Have an awesome day and I will let you know what happens.
