Ignition Coil Question
Dumb question here. How often should I change out the Igniton Coil and Ignition Control Modules? I need to do a tune up and I was going to change the plugs out. Do I need to change these out as well?

i'd leave em alone if you're not experiencing any issues with them

Appreciate it. My service light came on and sometimes it feels like it's bogging down. I was gonna switch it out with the spark plugs. Think I'll leave it alone for now. Thank you for the input.

Take the car into your local AutoZone (or similar), and have them dump the computer codes ... post the numbers here. Might be something simple .....
|
indeed get codes read -- could be many things - no point throwing money at guesses
|
You can change them everyday or wait till they go bad.
|
Thanks, I'll get the codes and get back with you guys.

So...to continue with the narrative. I changed the plugs, oil filter, cabin air filter, engine air filter. My service light with the wrench went away. We drove to Florida from Virginia Beach, and as I got to Walterboro, SC, my battery light started to flash and the car went dead on I-95. Got it towed to Autozone and found out the battery was good...alternator was bad. A horrible night in a hotel and then 3 hours the next morning...I changed the alternator and got back on the road. All indicator lights were out. About a half hour on the road and the service engine light soon came back on. More to follow.

Yes the battery light coming on means the battery IS NOT being charged.

Mercy --
All that work, and all that travelling (enjoy the vacation), and all the aggravation of a failed alternator, and we still don't know what codes (if any) are stored in the computer ... |
