Fuel cap

I have a 2004 2.2l L61. I think I need a new gas cap (check engine light on, PO442). I usually ratchet 3 times, is that the correct way? Now the one I have just keeps clicking as I try to tighten it. There is no part # on it. I have the metal flapper. Perusing various parts places I get confusing results. Does anyone have an actual GM part number? I have heard it's best to stick with GM.

Any kind of feedback will be appreciated.

According to the web site at the link, the GM part number is 19432733. 2004 Saturn Vue Fuel Hardware

Sir, I indeed confirm that is the listed part number for a fuel cap.

That being the case what the hell is 10326373

Good question. The link you posted shows that number is discontinued. I searched the other part number in RockAuto and it's applicable to a bunch of GM vehicles. Maybe 10326373 (and other discontinued fuel cap part numbers) were superseded by the former.

Thanks to all for your time. As far as I can tell the 2004 Vue came with either a plastic of metal flapper. Searching for 19432733 led to many confusing results as I went back and forth between various sourses.

I decided to ask Copilot (Edge browser), this was the result:

Odd part # but this is what I ordered.

Thanks again.

What's the code? Basic leaks are seldom the cap.

P0442

and many a Saturn has succumbed to said gas cap seal issue

It's the first thing everyone calls out. One in maybe 6 times or more they will be right.

Most people check that the seal on the old one is good before purchasing another. Others purchase another. I defer to you on the rate of correct diagnosis
