Clunking noise

Ok so, I have a 2002 2.2L saturn vue 5 speed.
When I am letting off the clutch from 1st-3rd, it will make a "clunking" sound as youre releasing the clutch. It sounds as if something is moving around and hitting something in the engine bay.
Both my Fiance are very good with cars and it has happened to both of uss when we are driving (so its not just MY driving) haha
But for the life of us we ant figure out what it is...
Could it be bad motor mounts...Driveshaft, drivetrain. The freaking Battery moving around on us.
We are leaning towards motor mounts as of about 30 mins. ago. but I was wondering if anyone has had any problems like this or knows anything about it.
PLEASE help.
- Tiffany.

I would look at replacing both the upper and lower motor mounts on the passenger's side of the car, as they are usually the ones that fail. That being said, there are two "dog-bone" mounts underneath the engine that support the transmission and the driver's side of the motor. These seldom go bad, but it has been known to happen
