Default Oil Fill Neck

The one and a half inch piece between the oil cap and the engine broke off during a manifold gasket replacement. I've been unable to find a replacement through gmparts, rockauto and local stores. May I receive some advice here on where else to look for this piece for replacement?

Many thanks.

Here's some interesting related reading for an Ion with a substantially similar issue.

Year/Trim Model/Mileage?

Is it a 2.2 ecotec or a v6

Please let me be more clear. It's the v6 3.0L engine.

Well, I THINK I found it:

******Use of the following info is at your own risk. Be sure to verify for yourselves these are the correct parts for YOUR vehicle.*******

The V6 3.0L in the older Vues is known as the L81.

I went into the site and entered 2003 Saturn Vue Base Trim and ALL categories (the key). Tiring of guessing at which upper engine schematic was the right one, I searched on the term "oil filler" and came up with this schematic (among others) which appears to show your part.

The web page address is

http://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.co...ing=oil+filler

The GM part name is
TUBE, Engine Crankcase (Tube, Oil Fil) #38 in diagram 24447375 $34.52

I hope you saved your oil cap, oil cap seal and bottom tube seal from the tube and oil filler cap as

Engine Oil Filler. SEAL. GASKET. Engine Crankcase. 90448217

#4 on diagram

and

Engine Oil Filler. SEAL. GASKET. Engine Crankcase. 90448217

#37 on diagram

(identical part)
has been discontinued by GM.

It's unclear to me if, based on the numbering in the diagram, you get a gasket when you purchase a new oil filler cap; it seems logical that you would. Which begs the question of how the gasket is d/c for individ sale....

That then brings into play the possibility that if you have tossed your old gaskets, you could buy some inexpensive OEM style gas caps and steal the sealing rings from them. But check before you buy.

You'd be surprised how tightly these gm parts websites are all linked. There are usually dealers running them and so their inventories can be seen by each other.

So just b/c a part is d/c does not mean there aren't a bunch scattered across the country lying on shelves.

Also, just because you now have the part numbers and start searching the web and find it "in stock" doesn't necessarily mean it's really in stock -- it means they don't update their website to match the sites that do (the one above is from experience very good about keeping current).

So be prepared for a few letdowns until you dig up what you need

Hope this helps

Thank you for the added "foot" work. I've sent some information to the website. From what the pictures show, and I've seen some but not all that you've provided links to, the missing piece doesn't look large (height) enough for threading the cap. It's a gasket but a 1-2 inch gasket.

You're welcome.

Part # 38 in the diagram is the 1-2 in tube I believe you seek.
Click on the link to the main diagram and look at #38 in the pic.

The seals at the top and bottom are of course small.

Please let us know how it all turns out.

Default 2002 Saturn Vue 3.0l oil filler tube

Just ran into the same problem. The top half of the filler tube was missing and oil filler cap was just sitting inside. The oil change place noticed it. I ordered a replacement filler tube off eBay. Looks like it's pretty easy to replace.
