4t45 trans leak
I have a 2007 Saturn vue 2.2l fwd with the 4t45 trans. The Transmission has been leaking since i bought it, I thought it was the pan gasket but it was still leaking after i replaced it. I thought maybe it was cause I used a low quality gasket so I redid it with a good gasket. Also I cleaned off pretty much the entire transmission. Now it's Still leaking. It's not coming from the pan gasket though like i thought. It looks like it's coming from above it on the inside bend. Anyone know all the possible leak points and maybe what i should be looking at next?
I'll post a picture of it tomorrow when it's light out. Thanks again! Red |
I've never even looked under the hood of a Vue, Red, so can't really tell you for sure, but I'd be checking where the transmission lines are routed and look for leaks on them. Also, if it has a spin on filter like the 1.9 engines do, I'd make sure the filter is not leaking.

Pictures
Here's some pictures of where the fluid seems to be coming from its I the right side of the transmission .

Is that a dent in the casing by the uppermost bolt in the first picture?
Also is that the fill level check plug? |
No derf, there's no deformities, the pan is brand new. The top right bolt in picture one is the same as the bolt all the way to the bottom right in the second and third pictures. There's a drop of trans fluid dropping off it. And no the fill check bolt is off screen to the left in the first picture.

Got it now. The angle of that first picture threw me off.
Unfortunately I am not a transmission guy. I was hoping for the easy solve. Hopefully others will chime in who know more about the particulars |
I'm not a transmutation guy either. Thanks anyway.

I will look this weekend. I have one on the floor in the shop.

I'm not a transmission guy either, but I'd suspect a front pump seal is leaking. Unless that's motor oil and not trans fluid. If it's motor oil, then I'd say the rear main seal is leaking.

Thanks. Pump seal is somewhere to start..
