2008 Vue XE Lifgate malfunction?
 

Hello - looking for feedback on how to go about troubleshooting an issue with the lift gate on my wife's '08 Vue XE. The lift gate securely closes and latches, but the light on the dash doesn't ever turn off, and as a result the interior lights stay on, and the doors lock and unlock randomly. I removed the plastic lift gate panel, and everything looks to be in working order. Barring turning off the interior lights, is there anything (sensors?, etc.) that I can look at before taking it to the repair shop?

I'm going to guess there is a switch thats bad..........and it's not the brake light switch.

SW2cam is right - the switch sensing the full closure of the liftgate is either out of adjustment, or has failed (or a broken wire in/near it)

Thanks Guys. The obvious next question - is the sensor imbedded in the latch mechanism ? I was looking for a sensor somewhere along the door jam, but didn't see anything.

Also - not sure why my IP is showing up in Colorado. I am in Washington State. Maybe it's because I am using exede satellite internet.

I don't own a VUE nor have I read of anyone havingthe same problem...maybe seach the internet and youtube.
