2007 Saturn Vue Possilbe Passlock Problem
 

My Saturn will not start. After replacing the Timing Belt and Tensioner, it ran for a few minutes and has not started again. We tried the passlock reset procedure, which was not successful for us. As a matter of fact, the procedure created another problem. All of the dash lights continuously flash and drain the battery. It does not matter if the key is in the ignition or not. We bought a new battery, but after checking to find out if that was the problem..it was not, we keep it disconnected unless we are testing new theories. Any ideas?

Key in pocket. What happens when the battery is hooked up? Key in and turn to run. What you get? Start?

What does the odometer read while flashing and is the mileage correct?

When we insert the key and try to start, the car will crank, but no spark, will not start

the odometer reads 150578 and the mileage is correct

Is it still in time?

Did you replace the timing belt because it was time or because it broke?

as far as we know it is still in time

derf, the belt tensioner failed is the reason we replaced the belt and tensioner. we can get it to fire if we use starter fluid, but it is not getting any fuel. We read the bcm will cut off the fuel injectors if the anti theft engages. we were unsuccessful using the passlock reset procedure, so we aren't certain if the bcm went out or it's actually a passlock problem.

That belt is the serpentine belt, not the timing belt. The serpentine belt rides on pulleys which drive things like the alternator, AC compressor. A timing belt is inside the engine and maintains the timing between the crankshaft and the camshaft so that the timing of various components is optimized and so that the pistons never hit the valves.

There is no reason that changing said external parts would trigger passlock.

Go back to the vehicle and very carefully inspect the area where you did the work. You are looking for unplugged connectors, loose connectors, damaged wires. The damage might be a bit removed from the work area.

As far as Passlock resets, is the security light staying on for around 10 min and going out, per the procedure?
