2006 Vue problems

My grand daughter's 2006 Vue has two problems.
First, the gauge needles won't light up and the dimmer switch doesn't effect the brightness. It's on full for the gauges. The gauges light up, just not the needles.
Second, is there an adjustment on the sunroof to stop leaks and wind noise? I've cleaned out the drains a couple of times, but the front seats are water stained and we have to fix the leaks. It looks like the glass can be pressed down from the outside. Is there an adjustment to pull it down tighter?

1) Replace he dimmer switch, then see what you have left as issues.

2) GUESS: Seems like an issue with motor start and stop points being a bit off, or of cable driven, the cables may have stretched such that the motor has gone its full travel but can no longer pull the sunroof in and down because with the stretched cables there is insufficient tension to do so.

The other solution (not popular) is to manually get it into the absolute closed position and silicone it shut. Forever. Many an S car has suffered this fate due to a design weakness that eventually was too expensive and too much of a pain in the ass to fix over and over.

If you do, be sure to unplug the connector to the control switch so that the sunroof can not accidentally be moved.

If you do find a way to accomplish that, please come back and let us know.
