2005 honda engine removal vue

afternoon all,
i have a 2005 vue with the honda engine. my daughter drives it and somehow managed to break 2 of the motor mount bolts and strip the third one. i cannot get to the bolts easily to drill and remove them, trust me i tried. and i dont have access to a lift to drop the engine and tranny from the bottom. the engine has almost 280,000 on it so if im going to pull it i might as well replace it. my question is, is it possible from the top, leaving the transmission in place, or is through the bottom the only option?
Thanks in advance for the help

I dug around on the net. All but one poster pulled the engine from the bottom by dropping the cradle and pulling engine and transmission together.

Seems like you need to do some cribbing. Jack it up, put some blocks under it and continue until you have it high enough to get the clearance you need. I'm not talking about concrete blocks. I prefer large pieces of wood.
