2004 Saturn Vue Seats
 

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue with the Honda v6 and 5 speed automatic. The seats are heated and the drivers seat is a 6 way or maybe it's 8 way power seat. However, the passenger seat has no adjustments, manual or other wise, other that back and forth and recline. I need to be able to adjust the lumber support in the passenger seat due to a bad back. As far as I can tell, Saturn never offered a 6 way power seat for the passenger. What are my options?

Folks, can he pre-adjust the lumbar the driver's seat, move it to the passenger seat, and purchase another power driver's seat?

Theoretically, I could do that but the cost of a duplicate seat for the driver's side would be several hundred dollars. I will try to find a shop in my town that can remove the seat covers and form the foam to fit my needs.

Nothing is impossible. Please stop back and let us know what you did and how.

Another option would be to just buy some new seats, preferably non-Saturn. Has anyone heard of doing this and if so, what seats did they buy?

Anything is possible, although the wiring for the power seat would need a bit of rearranging. As far as direct plug and Play, the first generation vues I believe were built with parts unique to Saturn. That doesn't mean that there are not bolt on replacements out there, or that you couldn't swap in the rails along with the new seats. You just have to drill new mounting holes.. I suppose you could do a double swap with two power seats and then pre position the passenger seat along with its lumber adjustment by patching up the wires from the driver side to adjust it, and taking it over to the passenger side and installing it as is. Only problem being he wouldn't be able to adjust it in any direction.

You could add the power wires for a passenger seat. Pull power and ground from the driver’s seat wiring. Only adjust one seat at a time. The control for the passenger seat would be in the center of the car not against the door. A custom VUE!

Andy, kudos to you for suggesting exactly what I did not have the nerve to post. I was thinking about a custom control box that would only allow power to one side or the other at any given time.

I powered the electric windows in my crew cab to battery hot through a circuit breaker. I did this 20+ years ago and enjoy being able to close an occasional rear window left part way down by a grandchild after shutting off the Diesel.

I have been able to find an upholstery shop near where I live that will remove the seat covers and shave the foam so that it fits your body contours. In my case, they shaved a little off the lumbar support on both the drivers and passenger seats, added a little foam to the bolsters and placed the seat covers back on. Worked great. For added comfort, they may go back and add some gel to make both bottom and seat back a little softer. A great find to locate someone with the know how to do this
