2002 vue

Good Morning All,

I am new to the forum and last week posted in the new members section with a question about a 2002 VUE I am looking to buy. It has the 6 cylinder engine with AWD and about 88000 miles. With a little research I stumbled upon all of the troubles with transmissions in the Saturn's of this vintage. One of the moderators said that as long as it was a 6 cylinder the transmission was good and that I only had to worry about the transmission if it were a four. With this being said can someone tell me if the engine is an interference engine and at what intervals does the timing belt need to be replaced. Any other insight or comments about this model would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

jj

L81 V-6 is an interference engine. Timing belt should be replaced at 100,000. Moderately costly job

Not knowing if it has ever been replaced I'd just do it. 88K is not to soon.
