2.2 Timing cover, Crank pulley removal

I'm working on a friend's '03 Vue 2.2 FWD that had worn chain guides and slipped timing. All 16 valves were bent, the head is in the shop for new valves, valve stem seals, etc. Should be ready this week.

I need to take the front cover off and need to remove the crank pulley. QUESTION: Is the bolt in the crank pulley reverse threads (turn to the right to loosen)? I don't want to attempt removal and mess the bolt head up trying to get it out.

QUESTION: Any other issues or pitfalls taking the timing cover off? I'm also replacing the balance shaft(s) chain (not the shafts themselves), it's guides and pulleys as well as putting on a new water pump.

QUESTION: In what position should I have the cams when I put the refurbished head back on, and what should the position of the crank be when the head goes back on? The last thing I want to do is damage the brand new valves.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The crank bolt is a standard right hand thread bolt. There are instructions in the forum/general/general help section or go to an Ecotec forum.
