Default 08 Vue XR stock head unit replacement
I tried searching through the threads but didn't see anything relating to replacing the stock (non-nav) unit with an aftermarket one. Anyone done it and have recommendations? All of the Amazon ones are lame, lol.

I'm not aware of anyone who has visited this forum upgrading the head unit on a second generation VUE.

I replaced it on my 08 Vue XR. It is not that difficult. I found a video on YouTube. You'll need a module to keep the turn signal chime, steering wheel controls and warning tone.

No. It was a cheap CarPlay unit off Amazon that lagged terribly.
