Battery tender
 

I just bought a 5v NOCO battery tender for my 2007 Sky. I had a new battery installed around July and will be storing it in my unheated attached garage in Southern Michigan. My question is, should I connect the tender directly to the battery terminals. Or should I connect to the electrical box above the battery and the negative connection attached to the engine, or doesn't it make any difference? Thank you.

Given the small amount of current, I am not sure if it matters, but I believe best practice on the newer cars is to connect to the positive connection point not at the battery and the same for the negative connection at the frame. Many manufacturers now use electronics to control among other things battery load shedding and such. The circuitry tends to be installed right on or shall we say off of the end of the battery lead on the positive. This is why when you jump start a newer car, you are supposed to avoid direct battery connections because you are sending huge current spikes through those electronics that they were not designed to see let alone withstand.

Hopefully someone else will come along and confirm or correct the above.

I would follow the charger instructions.
