new valve cover gasketand still leaks. is there a aftermarket steel valve cover instead of the plastic that doesnt always leak?

This shows the requirement of making sure ALL gasket mating surfaces are smooth and clean. Takes a bit more time, sure, but it prevents issues such as mentioned here ...

believe me i cleaned the head clean and checked the cover really good. and used a bit of silocone too. warpt head or cover? i herd they always leak, happend on my other twincam all the time and i see it on a lot of them when they come into the shop im at. no aftermarket covers?

hmmm ...

Guess I have just been lucky. Five different Saturns, ranging from a 93 SW2 all the way to 2002 L200, with no leakers ...

Use Saturn OEM gasket and don''t over torque

OceanArcher Dec 23, 2008 08:32 AM

Derf is on the button here over torquing is the culprit a lot of times

chriSL2 Dec 23, 2008 05:35 PM
