Trans problem in 1997 SL2...help!

My 1997 saturn is an automatic. I believe it's not going back into first gear because it is slipping gears when I get up past 55/60 mph. When I decelerate, and go back down to around 15 mph until I stop it's a hard shift, and it's running about 2000rpms. I know it's not going back into first gear. Any ideas of what is causing this?

Have you tried a fluid and filter change? That might help it.

Yes, the oil has been changed, the coolant has been flushed. I'm thinking it's a silinoid(sp?)?

If you can get it to a transmission shop, that's what I'd recommend. Ask them if they can check your CVI's. Clutch volume indexes. If they're within spec, then you may just have a solenoid problem. But, I'm not a mechanic, so don't take my word for it, okay?

Good luck with your repairs ....

Mechanic opened it up. He thinks it's the 2nd and 3rd solenoid
