This is what I want to do: I have good running '94 SC2 DOHC 5 speed with a crushed rear end. Just picked up a cheap-cheap '96 SL2 DOHC Automatic with a huge hole in the engine block (she never put oil into it.) I want swap the '94 engine into the '96. Problems I might run into?? I just want to change the engine. Computer or other sensor issues?? Thanks for any help.Edited by: sw2cam

You will need an EGR adaptor plate. There is no provision on the 1994 head for the linear EGR valve. Saturn used to sell them for $120. I have them for $45.

You'll also need to swap over the 1996's intake manifold, fuel rail, injectors and throttle body onto the 1994 head.

You also find that on the 1994 head there are two temperature sensors, 1996+ use only one. When you reinstall the engine, plug the harness into the temperature sensor furthest down.
