SW2 alternator fusible link?
 

I have a 98 SW2 that's not charging the battery...either alternator, fusible link, or both. Tomorrow morning before it gets hot I intend to put it on jackstands and measure resistance
between the alternator cable & the solenoid where the big red wire goes to the battery. I have no idea of the exact location of the fusible link or what it looks like. Can anyone help? Tx,

Follow the big red cable from the alternator back towards the battery. Can't miss it. You could just disconnect the battery and measure the resistance from one end to the other.

Why not just take it to a nearby AutoZone after charging up the battery? They can do a load test on your entire charging system and tell you what is wrong. Have you checked the fuse in the fuse panel? Pretty sure it's under the hood not on the kick panel inside but don't quote me on that.

How old is your battery? How hot is it where you live?

Fusible link is very rare.

If you do not have 14 4 V at the battery with the car running then either the alternator has an issue, a fuse is blown, or there is a connection issue at one end or the other.

Voltage regulator is inside alternator so if that is bad YouTube replace alternator.

Was sick yesterday...went under the car today to check the fusible link, and what did I find? The IDIOT who installed my starter FORGOT to connect
the alternator! The lead was just hanging out there in space. I connected it and all is well. I'm calling the place that installed my starter to get some
kind of compensation (yeah right). At least I can do some major ass-chewning if they don't own up to it.And I will post negativily I can if they don't.
It sux when you get old and can't work on your own stuff.

I'd be more satisfied with a monetary renumeration. It's a rookie mistake and it caused a lot of misery to me. If I
don't get anywhere with that I'll leave a negative report...when I pay $250 for a starter replacement I expect it to
be done right.

All I meant is the guy won't remember not doing it because he forgot to do it, not that you might not be justified. You have every right to be angry.. taking your future business elsewhere is pain enough for them
