Recently we had a near flood here in Holland and I had to drive my 1994 SL2 home in the rain. The car was half way under water most of the time and I ended up using the sidewalk. So the next day when I started the car it had an extra almost whining noise. My dad said that something got wet that wasn''''t supposed to but other than that he had no idea. So I was wondering if anyone knew what may be causing this and what i may need to replace.</span></font> Edited by: tubbsey88 |
probably something just from being wet. Has it gotten any better after drying out through the day
Nope, its been a few weeks, same noise, and when I turn on the a/c it gets worse
does the noise increase with the rpm''s?
yes
Is it a low hum kinda whine or a higher pitch noise.
Low hum that tracks with RPMs might be your alternator which certainly is not designed to be submerged.... Though if your alternator was the source, I''d expect charging system issues to arise as well..... |
its a higher pitched sound, my grandma had one similar to this and my uncle replaced her carburetor and it fixed the sound, maybe the problem is somewhere in there.
When did they start selling SATURNS in HOLLAND and no SATURN ever came with a carburator on it. No not ever, never, nope, nada, didn''t.
yeah dude carburator? You mean fuel injection system right? They
stopped using carbs many moons ago. |
Oops, as u can tell i know next to nothing about cars, my grandma also had a buick regal, not a saturn... oops.
