Hello,

Recently, every time I start my 97 SL1, there is a loud running/splashing water noise coming from below the hood, it almost sounds like a mini waterfall going down my engine...
It only happens when the engine is cold, and so far nothing seems to be wrong with the car.
Also, most of the noise occurs during the first seconds after the engine is started, and then occurs again a few times (just a bit though) as I rev up the engine. After a few accelerations, it's completely gone.
The problem doesn't occur if I start the car and the engine is still hot.

What do you think the problem can be, and is it serious?

Thank you

Please don't hit me for asking but is your anti-freeze topped off? Check the level only when the engine is cold.

The anti freeze was pretty low so I added some about two weeks ago. It's close to the max line but still below.
However, the noise has started only two or three days ago and it ran fine for the rest of the time.
I just hope it doesn't harm the car.

Keep an eye on the fluid level especially for leaks but it may be just low and needs topping off until no more anti-freeze is needed.
