Speaker time

Just bought a 97 sl1 for savin gas , real nice car,

front passenger speaker was not working and rear passenger speaker was not as loud as the other rear,

used rear pas, speaker to test front, speaker works great and is now my new front,

swapped rear wires speaker to speaker and i seam to not get as much sound out of the one rear pas, speaker plug,

Any one have any suggestions as to maybe its the stock radio, a new one will be going in shortly

SAME ohm speakers?

Stop in the new member are and give yourself an introduction. When done open the USER CP top left and add your first name, location, and car into to your "signature".

Thanks

I replaced my factory radio with a mild aftermarket, 22 watts per channel and it didn't take long to blow out the factory speakers. I'd recommend that you plan on doing the whole package. You need 6.75" speakers so that limits your choices some.

Are there ANY really decent 6.75" replacements out there??

Quite a few actually, most are 6.5 with an adapter. www.crutchfield.com is a good source of speakers and they provide adapters as needed. I got Polk Audio's from them which were listed as 6.75/6.5 but they only fit with the adapters. They have other brands but they don't seem to carry "cheap" speakers. If your looking to spend less than &60/pair, you'll have to go to Walmart and take your chances.

I mounted mine using a dynamax sound absorbing mat around the edges. I dampens vibrations from the speakers so they don't transfer them to the door frame and window ledge. That would "color" the sound.
