I just changed out my spark plugs on a 93 SL and found oil in two of the cylinders!!! Does anyone know if that suggest a bad oil seal on the piston? On number 2 it was so bad that the oil was inside the spark plug shaft. It was black oil, so I dont think it was just a spill, but is it possible for oil to seep into the shaft? Let me know if you know.

Any ideas ott?

if it is a twin cam then it is a sl2, and you just need to get a new gasket

You were saying there is an inner and outer? Can you give me some tips on changing, etc?

remove the valve cover and if i recall the 91-94 use liquid gasket around the spark plug wholes, so clean the surface and put on some liquid gasket, then replace outer valve cover gasket

Okay, so I just take off the valve cover by pulling the plug wires and removing the dozen or so bolts around it? Are there any tricks or surprises I will run into when I do this? (Sometimes it just sounds TOO easy)

haha, wow, a twin cam sl1, thats odd...you sure you replaced the spark
plugs the right way because if you think that you have a twin cam sl1
then you are in serious car knowledge trouble

ha ha... maybe it was the drain plug in the oil pan. Or maybe a typo.
