SL2 Turbo???
Hey guys, my son is looking for a car and I told him to look for a good, clean used Saturn. He found this. Is this for real? I've never heard of a factory turbo charged Saturn, but until last year, I've never really paid that much attention to them. What do you guys say?

$2000 for a 10 year old car with 240,000 miles.
I don't think I would want to do it.
At this point in time I would expect to get something with less that half the miles on it for about the same price.
As to the turbo? Not factory to the best of my knowledge but some times weird things take place with out a lot of fan fair.
There were and are turbo kits available for the engine and car. My guess it is one of those.
But if it is not factory and even if it is, when you have problems with it where are you going to find parts.
And no matter what or who you listing to, a turbo on an engine is going to ask to have some one put their foot into it. The extra boost and power developed used frequently is going to cause things to be stressed.
Now this is just my general opinion.
There are many times questions on this forum relating to children's first cars with problems that are directly related to children's lack of maintenance simply because children have not learned the reason for nor how to care of an automobile. Add to that the complexity of a turbo and high mileage to boot unless there is some expectation of care and done correctly, driven as if it is a maintenance free appliance, it will become troublesome quickly. Just saying.

Oh, rest assured that there's no way I'd let him get something with a turbo. Not as long as he's living under my roof, anyway. I bought a new 84 Chrysler Laser XE with the 2.2 turbo and got a few tickets in it until I finally realized that I didn't have to drive it that fast all of the time. LOL But, I was 28 years old at the time and had a lot of driving experience by then. My son turns 22 today.
Anybody that had done the add-on or had the mechanical work done would have listed the type of turbo used...and I really doubt the rest of the vehicle would have been left stock/unmolested...
Also agree that this particular car, although pretty decent-looking for the year, should be going for a max of $1500...
