i have no idea on the stats on the sl2 so if someone could please give me a little backround on the car. i mainly deal with toyotas (hence the name). any information as far as engine size, bore and stroke, is it maf or speed density, lsd?, what size injectors, what are the trans gear ratios, compression ratio, whats the weakest link, common mods, common engine swaps (incase this engine goes), avg 1/4 mile times and trap speeds. sorry i'm very ignorant when it comes to the performance aspect of saturns.

Tell us what year your car is and then we might be able to help you with your questions. But about the injectors, it most likley has a Carburetor.

its a 98 i'm sorry i should have mentioned that before. i have no idea on the defferent engine options this car might have. honestly i haven't even poped the hood yet to see if it was dohc or sohc. hell i don't even know if its ohv. would saturn use carbs in 98???

no, they never used carburetors, they use vertical throttle bodies, people think they are carburetors but they aren't. but no they used the normal throttle bodies i think after the 93-94. but they have 1.9L the rest i don't even know yet

so the 98 sl2 had a 1.9L engine... was it sohc or dohc?

derf 03-01-2007 09:26 PM

sl2,sc2, and sw2 had 1.9L DOHC -- around 124 HP.
Multiport fuel injection (MFI)--never a carb.
Distributorless Ignition System (DIS)
3.23" x 3.54" (Bore x Stroke)
Compression 9.5:1

Numbers are for 1st gen S cars but are probably pretty close anyway

guessing by the stroke this car makes decent torque but HATES to be revved high. also looking at the compression ratio this car can be turbo'd pretty easyly correct? or are the internals made of glass?

Sorry, I have a 93 SL1, and just assumed they did the same up to 97 because they did use alot of the same parts til then. My 93 has a carb.Edited by: MCapone
