Default Sl2 motor rebuild

So I have a 95 sl2 and I’m fixing to do a rebuild since I went online and found several kits. I am a mechanic but I’ve never done a complete rebuild and what is concerning for me is the timing. Since the price is right and I’m doing the rebuild anyways, I’d like to put the new timing chain and etc on. Any advice on how to do this properly or somewhere that I can get a “timing for dummies” would raise my confidence enough to go ahead and pull the trigger on this project.

I would buy a GM Service Manual, Engine Mechanical, 355 pages if every microscopic detail needed to rebuild your engine.

I am going to rebuild mine also. Just found out that the exhaust and intake cams are different.

There is also a YouTube video on a complete rebuild.

My question us what kind of pistons to use. There is a brand that does not burn oil but thus info was lost when saturnfans went down.

If you don't know how to time an engine, don't expect the cams to be different, and haven't verified which parts to use....?

What all is included in your rebuilds?

What isn't included?
