I need help with my 96 SL2. I have to replace the brakes on the front of the car. And I was wondering is there anything special I need to do this? Or how? I had a Subaru before and I changed the brakes on that car. Do you have to turn the pistons in the calipers to get them to move back to accept the new brakes? I'm new to this forum so I sure would appreciate your help. Thanks

No you do not need to turn the pistons.

So To change the pads up front, all I have to do is push the plunger back in? Pretty straight forward.

Just use the old pad and a large "C" clamp to push the piston back in. Rotors are $20 each, might as well replace those too since you have everything apart and Saturn rotors are know to warp.

If you have ABS, you have to turn the piston on the rear calipers for it to go down.

The car does have ABS and traction control. So what do I have to do different? Thanks

If you're just replacing pads and rotors, then nothing. Just remove and replace like any other car. Just dont try to push in the pistons in the rear calipers.
