On my 2001 SC-2, the front tires seem to last about a year or 20K miles. A couple of years ago I had 205/60-15 mounted all the way around, and they lasted a little longer & did have better cornering power, but really overwhelmed the front suspension. Ugly straight-ahead characteristics.

Once back to oem sizing in front last year, the thumping, wandering, & rough bumping all went away. 14 months later those 195/60 tires are ready for the recycling heap, and new units are on order. Been using Falken ZIEX-512 model tires, but the new ones will be Kumho Ecsta LX models. (Rear tires are still 2.5 year-old Falken ZIEX-512 size 205/60-15 with at least 50% tread life remaining.)

Certainly front-wheel-drive cars gobble front tires up faster than RWD vehicles, and I do get in a hurry ''occasionally''. OTOH there is a mix of FWD, RWD, and 4WD in our ''fleet'', and nothing (in seemingly good operating condition and alignment) eats front tires (and front brake pads!) as frequently as this Saturn! Really like the car, but the short-lived front tire & brake thing is kinda strange.

Any one with similar experiences on the S-series Saturns, or is it all just my driving techniques? TIA

Not a common problem. Either you have allignmant problems, you''re buying tires with a low tread life or its your driving style.Edited by: Low Saturn
