Radiator cooling fan not working

I thought fan motor went out so I replaced it, today I was driving and car started to slightly overheat and A/C went from cold to hot.popped the hood fan not working again. Also the negative side of battery was loose I tightened it and I felt that might of messed it up.

Other than the starter the cooloing fan is the biggest electrical load. You may have lost the relay or the high amp connectors where the fan connects to the harness. Good battery connections are a must. The battery acts as a capacitor for high amp loads.

If the fan is not kicking on when you engage the AC, either the fan relay is bad or there is a wiring issue between the PCM and the relay or the relay and the fan. Or the new fan is bad. hook it directly across the battery to test. Do it safely.

I just went through a very similar experience.

If your A/C is working and you have it on, the cooling fan should be running.
I would suggest unplugging the cooling fan, start the car up, turn on the A/C and see if you have power at the plug for the fan. If you do, then the fan is bad which it was in my case.

If you don't have power at the fan then "What derf said."
