Driver of F350 crew cab full of construction workers decided he needed to be in my lane at the same time as me.
Thanks to the plastic body panels there are no dents and doors still work fine.
Did break off my mirror though. Fortunately I have a spare on the 1997 SW2.
Those tire marks might just buff out too.
Any suggestions for removing rubber marks?
Those mirrors and the three mounting stocks where they Go through the door frame is one of the worst designs of anything on that car. When my 95 and 97 were garaged, I would bump the passenger mirror and snap one of those plastic mounting things about once a year. After you break the first one it's easier to break the other two so I had to replace the mirror every couple years simply from bumping into it. Such is life. At first glance, I thought that stuff on your doors was what monkeys throw.
Is that a front or rear tire mark?
I swear there is more crazy **** that happens to you in life than anyone I've never met
That was a front tire mark Derf. What surprises me is that the hubcap of the truck extended past the tire and still didn't break the body panel.
LW - thanks for the tip on the tar remover. I've got some somewhere, I'll report back when I've had a chance to try it.
I got the mirror replaced yesterday. The one from the '97 was a manual adjust (remote toggle) and mine was the electric adjust.
I was able to pop the glass off (so I could get to the screws) and swap the electric guts to the good '97 shell. A little superglue and the mirror glass was back on.
The glass always broke when I tried that. I had to take the original passenger mirror off the 95 because I couldn't find a white aftermarket one. Still have the drivers side on the shelf. Would love to know how you get that off without breaking it.
Maybe I'll catch up with you when I am next in Jersey
The glass is held on by double sided foam mounting tape. Then there's two spots of silicone sealer that don't really stick.
I'm assuming if it's old enough the glue is degraded enough for this to work. The mirror from the 97 was actually made in 2001 according to the date code inside so both mirrors were about the same age around 23 - 24 years old.
