p0733 trouble code

Recently as of yesterday my car threw a p0733 gear 3 incorrect ratio today the check engine light went out I was told it might be a computer issue and Aamco said with out the check engine light there free inspection won't be much help. I'm thinking valve body as I have hesitation in all driving gears and reverse I'm just wondering what exactly this code means and why would the check engine light went out on its own and yes the bulb is good lol

Before you let AAMCO (All Automatics Must Come Out) even touch your car, you may want to replace your ECTS and the connector. Get them from a Saturn friendly GM dealership too, not your local autozone or advance, etc. The aftermarket parts are not properly calibrated. If you need to replace the valve body, if that's the TAAT transmission, it's not a difficult job to do yourself. I replaced mine along with the ECTS and connector and all is well with the car now. Mileage has even improved 3.5 mpg on the last two tank fulls.

would ac delco be connsidered a oem replacement part brand?

Yes indeed. That's what I purchased for mine and it's running great now. My mileage went from 31.25mph to 34.75 over the last two fill ups that I've done.

Check the damned plastic connector on yours first. Mine was cracked and not making a proper connection. Since I had already purchased another ECTS and the harness/connector, I just went ahead and replaced both. I sent the other ECTS to another member as he was having similar problems. The connector is just a squeeze fit, so once you disconnect it, look closely at the little tabs that "lock" it on to the sensor. That's where mine was broken.

the connector is fine on mine, i got a ects from the local scrap yard for free, i believe its the brass one ill include pics of it

Pics are kind of blurry, but it looks like the brass tipped one to me. Try it and see what happens. Of course, you're taking a chance on a used part this IS prone to failure. Keep that in mind.
