Also, derf. Do you put any thermal paste under the module?

Use dielectric grease.

I did remove autolite irridium plugs. I heard they heated up and worked similar to a glow plug? Where in the world did you get that information? I've never heard of anything like that and I've been pulling my own wrenches for over 50 years. AFIK, spark plugs DON'T heat up like a glow plug. Glow plugs are for diesel engines, not ICE. Diesels run by compressing the fuel and air mixture to extreme pressures that would probably grenade an ICE.

Wow, don't get mad! This is what I read. We all read from time to time. I also have wrenched a lot of years and own a diesel truck, I understand how they work, thank you. Just passing on what I heard.

You should not be passing information that you know is wrong. Why do that when you know it's wrong.

Hmm. Didn't know it was wrong. Just what I heard, I said that, read it! That's what I put in there. so it was answered, thanks. So the experts chime in and say it's wrong. Glad your such an expert.
Thanks!

You claim to be a mechanic and you own a diesel truck and you do not know the difference between a glow plug and a spark plug? Something's off here.

NTD332 Sep 30, 2025 02:52 PM

If you notice there is a question mark after that. I probably should have said, they stay hotter then normal plugs and act.like a glow plug to a small degree. That's what I had heard. I have no experience with irridium plugs. I just wanted to hear some more experienced people in the topic. That's for your insight, you sound like you are well qualified on the topic. As I said, just a question. I appreciate your insight. Sorry about any confusion, it certainly was not my intent. Just wanted to know if anyone had heard of this. Derf recommended standard NGK plugs, so that's what I put in. Again, thank you.

I think I have it figured out.

NTD332 Sep 30, 2025 03:09 PM

So. Maybe you can answer this. Can you use Irridium in this car with no side effects? Thanks!

I'm not mad, bro. I was just wondering where you read that? It's definitely not true. That's all I'm saying. I'm not a mechanic nor do I have a garage like grcauto8453.
