Hi my name is Eric and I have a 1995 Saturn SL1 and it only has around 85,000miles on it. I noticed a few weeks ago it was leaking oil so I opened the hood and noticed the water reservoir was full of oil.
I could not afford to pay someone to fix it so a mechanic friend of mine pulled the head off and I was hoping it was just a blown head gasket but under the cam is a huge crack in the head. I know the car is old but should it really have a cracked head at 85,000miles? I really like the car and it gets around 35mpg which is great when running the kids to all there sports events. I have a fiance and she has three kids I am trying to raise and this hole situation really sucks mostly beings its so close to Christmas. I just want you to know that I think this cracked head problem in my opinion is a just a faulty part because I never over heated the engine or ran it hard I just used it to get to work and run the kids around. I figure no one will even read this and if they do it will just get deleted but I wish you a Merry Christmas because it looks like mine will not be the best this year. GOD BLESS.........

Yeah that head shouldn''t have cracked at just 85k. My brothers has well over 200k and has the original head (motor threw rods *plural lol). Anyways check your local pull a part if there is one near you. They have the best prices anywhere. If not go to a junk yard or e-bay. Good luck
