Looking at 2 different 1999 Saturns SL (Not SL1 or SL2). They both are manuals one has 76,000 and the other has 110,000.Both are in excellent shape!

I used to own a a ''91 SL1 5 Speed (XLNT car by the way) and now my work will be taking me further from my home and I am partial to GM and Ican''t make the ''98 SuperCharged C5 Corvette a dailydriver (I''m daily on the Corvette Forum)

Well anyway onto the question, is there anything special I need to look for and watch out for on the ''99''s?

Is there a particular year that is better than the other in this model of the SL series?

Thanks,Matt

Check out autos on msn.com.

It gives you a lot of info on 99 SLs, especially when you click the "reliability" tab.

Then, check out craigslist - the website for personal sellers in your city. Check out 99 SLs for sale and the sellers usually post any problems with those cars. Note: that year of car was know for engine problems/failure.

Already picked up the 99 with 76,000 miles on it. Did some research on the year and it seems the 99''s a good year with a few minor issues to look out for.

Passed SMOG w/flying colors and it''s now registered, smogged, insured and ready to go.

Thanks for the reply!

Do a full tune up on the car. If auto , replace fluid and filter every 20k. Replace oil every 3k. Change the ECTS also. I can post a full tune up list if needed. Happy saturn driving!!
