so last night it rained pretty hard and today i found that the front passanger floor was soaked. so i asked my friend why the floor would be soaked but the seats were dry? initialy i thought it was the sun roof or window. my friend informed me that a leaky windshield was a common problem for for gm cars. my friend just bought a beretta gtz that had a leaky windshield and our friend had a 93 sl2 that also had this problem. the 93 sl2 had to get new carpet because mold was growing under the carpet creating a horrid smell. is this a common problem for saturns? my car for those who haven't read my previous post is a 98 saturn sl2.

I used to have a 92 VW Jetta, 3 of them to be in fact, and all 3 leaked, none on the seats. all on the floor, especially after it rained. This was due to a poor seal around the doors. If the windshield was leaking, there would be water on the dashboard, if there is no water on the dashboard, then it's most likley not the windshield

poor seal around the door? wouldn't that also leave some water on the seat? also would that mean the car was hit and had horrible collision repair?

Check to make sure the drain holes in the bottom of the door itself are not plugged. Water can collect over a matter of years and when it gets to the level of the bottom of the speaker opening, etc, it can come into the cabin.

Door seal (molding) is also quite plausible -- it gets deformed over time and does not completely seal. based on the angle of the door and where the leak is, I've had a few drops of water leak from the top of the door right to the carpet (on a 95 SC2--no rain gutters, though).

I am assuming no holes found in the floor or up by the firewall.....

i am assuming the same... i've had a 85mr2 that had a small rust hole in the driver floor... i'm guessing by the fact that the water is collecting i don't have a hole yet. otherwise it would have drained through such said hole.
