Hi everyone, I just decided to post this because I just got my first Saturn, in fact my first car as well.
Its a Blue 2002 SL 5-speed. When I bought it the dealer installed new front brakes and a new clutch for free, as well as a free detail job. This is my first car, and it is the car of my dreams. (kinda rare for a saturn to be the dream car of a 16 year old) I took it for a spin today, and I just love this car! its only got about 50,000 miles on it, and I only drive about 6-7 thousand miles a year, so this car will last me a long time. plus, monthly payments are only $158.00. I hit the jackpot with this one, I'm so happy that I had the opportunity to get this car. (also I was impressed with the sound quality and the fact that the owner's manual was a hardback with full color images, I've never seen that before.) |
Welcome Red..............If you want this car to last a long time change the oil at 3000 miles 6000 using MOBIL1. Do not over heat the car. The temp gauge will go up to about the 3/4 mark with the A/C off before the cooling fan kicks on. The fan will always run with the A/C on. I have had many S-CARS and not one of them has burnt a drop of oil because I lived by that rule.
PS: This little car does not mind if you push it a little. Just don't over do it. No freaking tickets that'll save you moneyEdited by: sw2cam |
specifically Mobil1? ok, no problem. but how can I avoid overheating my car?

If I bought a used car
1 I'd flush the radiator 2 Have the water pump checked for leaks 3 Add fresh high quality coolant 4 Add Royal Purple ICE 5 Learn where my coolong fan cames on with A/C off and make sure it stays at that mark or below 6-Learn the temp gauge reading with A/C on and watch so it does not go over that mark. Watch the temp gauge Edited by: sw2cam |

the cooling fan should be right in front of the radiator facing the engine you should be able to hear the fan kick on
