instrument cluster problems
 

Okay, so I have a 91 saturn sl1 with a manual trans, and my instrument cluster half works. the spedo works, odometer works, trip odometer works, but thats it. The lights work for the most part, right turn signal, battery, e brake (stays on all the time) and all the pre start system check lights work like they should. The left turn signal light works but it lights up the bulb behind the tachometer. I replaced the instrument cluster already hoping that would fix it but it didn't. I've checked all the fuses, everything checks out there. Checked for low voltage at the battery and the alternator and they read just like they should. the tachometer, fuel gauge, and temp gauge do not work as well as the lights to light up the instrument cluster. Also a, not sure if it makes a difference but the guy I bought it from has the tail lights hooked up to a toggle switch and the rear license plate lights don't turn on with them. Not sure why he did that but it is what it is. Ive check my fuel level sending unit and that's working fine. temp sensors are both working fine as well. I'm not used to coil packs either and this car has em instead of a dizzy. Any help would be awesome!!!

also from what I've read, if I understood correctly, there should be a instrument cluster relay, is that right? if so, where is it? i've looked in the interior panel junction box and the one under the hood and didn't find it.

I didchange my girlfriend's cluster, I put in from different year and everything is messed up like you say, but expect the MPH is still working. I am wonder if your cluster was installed in from different year? Was it working fine before n never installed in different cluster?

I put in SL2 cluster in girlfriend's SL1, everything work fine!
