2001 SL Door Panel Removal

2001 Saturn SL
So my window on my left side rear door wont go back up. I don't need it to work I just need it back up. Trying to remove the door panal has proven difficult. I removed all the necessary screws so the panel is free moving, the issue lies in the open lever/trim. On most cars you can pop the trim off and leave the handle intact however my handle/lever is bolted directly through the trim piece. From appearance it looks to be a rivet attaching it and don't know hwo to go about the removal. The door needs to remain functional the window does not. Any help is appreciated.

</>ive had that problem, before removing the door panel id try rolling the window down some then pushing outward on the top of the window as you roll it up the glass may have come lose inside the door and will not catch when going up. Edited by: hell on wheels

Thanks for your tip on fixing the window. Work like a charm. Great suggestion!

" You need to remove the exterior panel to gain access to the window and its components. Removing the interior panel will only reveal a sheet metal door frame with a few small openings. "
That's the kind of priceless information I come here for. After decades of working on cars I never would have thought to come from the outside.
I've got two windows that are starting to stick so I'll be getting into them eventually. You just saved me a whole lot of grief!

As far as I know, Saturn is the only company that ever did that, too. I "practiced" on a Saturn in the pull a part yard before I tackled mine. Had to put a window regulator in it and cut the hell out of one hand in the junkyard. I didn't have all of the bolts out and yanked on the door skin. It broke because it was already cracked and cut me. Lived and learned that day, I did!
