I have a 2000 SL1, single overhead. According to all the information I can find, there are only two engine mounts in the car, and both are on the passenger side. My boyfriend (yes I''m female, no I''m not gay, not that there''s anything wrong with that) says the engine can''t possibly have adequate support with just two mounts on the right side.

Does anyone know what the deal is with this?

No big deal - its the way the vehicle was designed. You are correct, just two engine mounts, and both on the right side ...

Two engine and how many trans mounts?, do them all. Buy them from the dealer 99.99% of aftermarket ones are not worth 1/8th of what you pay for them.

So whats the deal with this? Edited by: sw2cam

There are four powertrain mounts.

-One on the upper passenger side. Its attached to the frame rail and timing chain cover.

-One on the lower passenger side. It attached the block to the cradle

-One on the upper drivers side under the battery. It attaches the transmission to the cradle on 92-93 or transmission to the frame rail on 94-02.

-One on the lower drivers side. It attached the transmission to the cradle.

The lower engine mount and transmisson mounts are ok to buy in the aftermarket. The upper engine mount should be purchased from the dealer. The most common mounts to go bad are the upper engine mount and lower transmission mount.
