I know it sounds funny but I forgot to measure the distance of the height of the transmission across the fenders with a board and the distance from the firewall to the top closest bolt on the transmission.


Before you think I am crazy I am building a electric car, and the engine isn't there anymore to position the tranny. I have a 93 two door coupe. PLEASE HELP!!!!! The measurement should be to the closest bolt to the firewall on the top of the transmission. lay a board across the fenders and measure down to the bolt head center. And repeat the measurement from the firewall to the same bolt center. Holding my tape horizontal, from firewall to the center of the bolt, i measured 12 1/8 inches. Holding the tape vertically, i measured 9 3/4 inches from the bottom of the board (resting on the fenders) to the center of the bolt. I did the measurements to the closest bolt to the firewall (of the 2 bolts on the top of the tranny); on a 92' SL1 with a manual transmission. I know that 92' to 93 1/2' manual trannys are exactly the same... as i had to do some research inpreperation forreplacing mine a year ago.

Doesnt matter what year it is. ALL saturn S-Series cars have the same dimensions under the hood. Transmission and engine bay dimensions never changed from 1991-2002.

I just wanted to say thanks for the help it was something crutial I overlooked. I hope to be driving it by the end of next month. I just got my manual rack and pinion in today and I am going to install it later. [img]smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]
