Naw, Sw2, can't agree. If you are going to change parts, keep the headlights and replace everything behind them.
Of course this is only true if the headlights come on.

Ok, thanks for all the great advice guys. I'll definitely be getting a new one of those sensors and the connector for it tomorrow. The way that OceanArcher explained it makes a lot of sense.

If that doesn't pan out I think my next step will be to get some new fuel injectors. I looked up the symptoms of those being clogged or bad and that makes a lot of sense as the possible culprit.

My first fuel inject car was a 1980 Dodge with a throttle body system. Since that time I have owned at least one fuel injected car in addition to my Saturn, some with close to 300,000 miles on them and I never have had to replace an injector.
Now I won't say for sure you don't have a bad injector, but in my experience the probability is very low and one thing I would want to know before I even addressed the probability of an injector is the fuel pressure.

YES! So I put in a new ECTS and a new connector and my car is now starting so much better. It idles steady just over 900 RPM and just feels better in general. Going from a dead stop is easy again and acceleration feels good. I'll continue to keep an eye on the mileage, but as of now, it seems that the problem is fixed!

Alright, update time.

So after driving it with a new sensor for a week or so, the idle is still going strong at 900 RPM. I have noticed that the engine idles kinda high until it warms up a bit though. Also my gas mileage is still really bad. Any ideas on what could still be wrong? Or what I could test to figure it out?

Maybe you need to replace your O2 sensor. They can effect your mileage. But first, I'd recommend you clean the throttle body, check you air filter and PCV valve for proper operation and look at your spark plugs. If they're fouled, that can do it too.

You need to go to an autoparts place and have them hook up their code reader, many do that for free. It will tell you if there are any pending codes and it will also indicate if all the monitors are running. If everything looks good, then at least you can rule out the PCM.

I would also look for a fuel leak at this point.
