Check your fuel lines and make sure you do not have a loose fitting or damaged line. Fuel spraying around in an engine compartment is a definite hazard ...

Because you still haven''''t changed your ECTS like we''''ve advised, so your car is running richer than hell (with a fuel mix equivalent to that used when it''''s about -40 outside), since you said you disconnected the known\bad ECTS sensor...
