I have a 92 SL2, 85000 miles. When I hit a pothole or bump just right (and there are plenty of them in NYC) I hear a clanking noise of metal meeting metal, apparently from my front driver side wheel. I have had my struts replaced, but that didn't solve the problem. I would very much appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

Well GaryB is the person that did the front struts was remotely competent he would have checked the entire front end before starting the replacement. Any of the bushings related to the front suspension could be bad. The sway bar bushings or caps could be bad. It could be a number of things including the hood stoppers not being adjusted high enough. I said the hood stoppers because I've had your compaint many times and have found it to be the hood many times.
