Ok so today im driving my 2002 Saturn SL1 and the service engine soon light comes on. I drive it to my mechanic and he uses his computer and it says its pulling 2 codes one is:


P0128


and then the other one says P0128 pd..


Ive looked around on the computer and ive seen something that says Insufficient Heat? help me out please. thanks

Did a bit of poking around on the net. . . .

PCM is sensing that the coolant temp is not reaching a high enough temp within a certain amount of time after start up.

So I suspect either the ECTS is giving a low temp reading to the PCM, or the thermostat is malfunctioning and the coolant in fact is not heating up as quickly as it should.

Have seen quite a few posts on this elsewhere for Vues but not the S cars.

ECTS failure usually comes with all kinds of other bonuses, like hard starting, crappy fuel economy, bogging under acceleration, etc.

Guessing the thermostat, but check ECTS first anyway.
