Cylinder trubs

It seems my #1 & 2 cylinders are washing out with fuel and oil is weeping up and causing plugs to foul. I did a compression check on all 4 cylinders and it was around 210psi on each one. The car does not smoke while driving. I've changed the coil module. I used to get 36mpg on highway now I'm getting at best 25mpg. The only thing left to change is the ignition control module. The service engine is not lite. I was getting random miss fire codes. I replaced plugs and wires and that cleared the code and light went out.

Has anyone here had or known someone who had this prolem and got it fixed? What did they do to fix the problem.

Thanks,

Frank

I was also wondering if it could be a injector being stuck open. I took a stethoscope and I could hear each injector clicking like it said in the book. So, I'm kind of puzzled here.

Mileage:
replace ects and connector to address fuel mileage issues. Bad ECTS often causes PCM to dump fuel

Compression:
did you pull all 4 plugs at once before performing compression test?
Are those readings with engine cold or warm?

Oil: Any oil in plug wire wells? Or just the plugs themselves?

How many mi on this thing?
Could be valve guide seals startin to leak oil.....

There's 188,000 miles on engine. All 4 plugs were taken out of a warm engine to do compression test. No oil in the spark plug wells only on the plugs themselves.

What is the etcs and where is it located?

Thanks for the info.

ECTS= Engine coolant temp sensor -- feeds "coolant temp info" to PCM which uses it along with other info to determine A/F mix.

Coolant Temperature sensor is on the drivers side of the head. It has two wires.
Replace with brass style. Connector is dealer only.

Oil
On these engines the oil either
a) bypasses the oil control rings in the pistons, which seize in their channels and stop sweeping the cylinder walls
b) bypass worn valve guide seals.

Either way it gets into the cylinder and burns.

Do you currently have an oil consumption issue? If so, how bad?

About 1/4 qt. every 3000 to 4000 miles. The car does not smoke like it's burning oil.

I was also thinking that maybe the injectors coould be going bad. Not misting the fuel in but dribbling the fuel in and therefore it's not burning the fuel.

I found and replaced the ECTS this morning. The car has great pickup and go. I will see what the gas MPG will be on this tank.

So you find it odd that a car with 188,000 miles could use 1/4th of a quart of oil in 3,000-4,000 miles?

glad ects seems to working for you.

I would think the likelihood of an injector giving you an issue in that way is low....if it was, I'd expect you'd find it to be behaving somewhat like an intermittent miss.

As for oil consumption, that's nothing for these engines.

At 188K, Keep keeping it topped off, keep up the oil changes, and don't sweat it.
These engines are efficient oil burners.
