Hi folks,

Strange problem. # 2 and 3 cyl are not firing, no spark at all. New plugs and wires, I have swapped coil packs side to side. Still 2 and 3 not firing. Suspect ignition module. Is there a way to test this? Ideas, suggestions anyone. Should probably mention 2001 SL 1.9L SOHC.

I'd check the electrical blades connecting the coils to the ignition module and if the coils are fine then the ignition module is faulty. Perhaps a junk yard one may be the more inexpensive route before buying a new one. Youcan check for prices around your local area and online if you have a spare car in the meantime.

Samething happened to my 1997 Sl. Switched coil packs and still the same two spark plug wires. So, both coil packs were okay and I purchased an ignition control module from a junk yard. Alot cheaper. Besides switching coil packs, I also removed the four bolts that mount the ICM to the motor block and wire brushed the back plate of the ICM, the underside of the bolt heads and used dielectric grease to insure there wasen't a loss in ground to the ICM. If you lose ground, the ICM will malfunction as well.
