Cruise Control

I know there are many threads about adding cruise, but I will walk you through my ordeal.

2000 SL1

So, purchased a Saturn steering wheel and cruise module from a junkyard. R/R the steering wheel and installed the module. Plug and play, all the wires were there. Went to a GM dealer to get the PCM enabled for cruise with a Tech 2. The GM dealer says there is not a cruise option. I then decide to take it to the dealer that used to be the local Saturn dealer.

I get to Quantrel Cadillac and I explain to them what I have done, and what I need them to do. They say they will look at it and it will be a half hour of labor. I walk back into the shop and watch/ talk to the tech working on my car. Great guy by the way. He hooks the Tech 2 up and finds where the cruise option is. It won't let him enable it. He ends up having to hook up a wireless deal and going to a computer. We have to reprogram the PCM and build the car from scratch so to speak. Afterwards, we take a test drive, the cruise works, but the check engine light comes on. He then has to hook up Tech 2 again and verify to the PCM the camshaft position sensor. After that, I pay them the 49 bucks, and I now have cruise for 120 dollars.

I'm happy now, but just letting everyone know that if the tech is not experienced with Tech 2, you may not get what you need done. As far as the parts, everything is pretty straight forward.

Nice report. Clear, concise, and well-written. Need to think about making it a "sticky"

Lol, thanks, and who says a business writing class is a waste?
